The to-do list
that judges you.

Red Pen is a real task manager with projects, reminders, recurring tasks, and sync. It also has opinions. Add a task and get roasted. Leave it undone and get roasted harder. Actually finish it and get a backhanded compliment.

No credit card. Free forever for the basics. Your feelings are your responsibility.

Red Pen now

"Call the dentist" has been on your list for 9 days. The dentist has moved on. Have you?

Red Pen 2h ago

You completed "Drink water". Congratulations on meeting the minimum requirement for being alive.

How it works

  1. 1

    You add a task

Type naturally: "renew passport friday 5pm p1 #errands". Red Pen figures out the date, priority, and project.

Adding it is the easy part. Congrats.

  2. 2

    You ignore it

We all do. Overdue tasks get highlighted, and the red pen starts making notes in the margin.

    It's been 6 days. It's watching you.

  3. 3

    You get it done

Check it off and collect your backhanded compliment. Recurring tasks keep a streak, which the red pen will absolutely bring up.

    Historians will mark this date.

A serious to-do app with an unserious attitude

Everything you'd expect from the grown-up task apps, plus a teacher who's had enough.

The to-do list part

  • Quick add that understands you. Dates, times, priorities, labels, projects, and repeats, all in one line.
  • Inbox, Today, Upcoming. The views you already know, so there's nothing to learn.
  • Projects and labels. Group work, home, and "things I said I'd do in 2019".
  • Subtasks and notes. Break big scary tasks into small scary tasks.
  • Recurring tasks with streaks. Every day, weekday, week, month, or year.
  • Reminders. Push notifications on web and phone, free.
  • Works offline, syncs everywhere. Web and mobile stay in step once you have an account.
  • Keyboard shortcuts and dark mode. For the people who read feature lists this carefully.

The judging part

  • Roasts on every task. Written in red pen in the margin, specific to what you typed.
  • Three heat levels. Mild is a supportive friend. Medium is a comedian. Savage is your group chat.
  • Wall of Shame. Every overdue and neglected task, sorted by how long you've been avoiding it.
  • Report card. A weekly letter grade with the teacher's comments.
  • Nag Mode. Push notifications that roast you about overdue tasks until you deal with them.
  • It knows when to stop. Tasks about hard stuff, like hospitals or grief, never get roasted.

Reviews from people we made up

It called my dentist appointment "a hostage situation". I booked it out of spite. Five stars.
Priya, imaginary
I turned on Savage and cried a little. Then I did my laundry. Net positive.
Marcus, fictional
My therapist asked who's been saying these things to me. I said "my to-do list" and she wrote something down.

Questions you're avoiding asking

Is it going to hurt my feelings?

Only as much as you ask it to. Mild is gentle teasing. Savage is not. You can switch any time, or turn roasts off entirely and use Red Pen as a plain to-do list.

Does it roast everything?

No. Tasks about serious things, like medical appointments, grief, or legal trouble, get a kind word instead of a joke. The roasts are about your procrastination, never about who you are.

Is there a phone app?

The web app installs on your phone's home screen today and supports push notifications. Native iOS and Android apps are on the way and will sync with the same account.

Do I need an account?

No. You can start as a guest on one device. Create an account when you want sync, backup, or Pro.

Can I cancel Pro?

Yes, in two clicks from Settings. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. The red pen will be disappointed, but it respects your choice.

What do you do with my tasks?

We store them so they sync. When you ask for an AI roast, the task's text is sent to our AI provider to write the joke, and that's it. We don't sell your data. Details in the privacy policy.

Your to-do list already judges you silently.
This one just says it out loud.
